Technical Overview
The Engelmann SensoStar U uses ultrasonic time-of-flight measurement technology to provide highly accurate flow measurement without moving mechanical measuring components. Its ultrasonic design supports excellent long-term measurement stability while allowing the meter to operate in horizontal, vertical or overhead installation positions.
The range is available from DN15 through to DN50, with nominal flow rates from Qp 0.6 to Qp 15 m³/h. A wide selection of body sizes and installation lengths makes the SensoStar U suitable for both replacement installations and new heating systems.
The calculator can also be detached from the flow sensor where required, using a standard 0.85 metre connection cable or optional 2.85 metre cable, providing greater installation flexibility in restricted plant spaces.

Heat Energy Measurement
The SensoStar U is a complete thermal energy meter. It combines an ultrasonic flow sensor, electronic energy calculator and matched temperature sensors to calculate the amount of heat energy transferred through a heating circuit.
The meter continuously measures the volume of water passing through the system together with the temperature difference between the flow and return pipework. This data is then used to calculate the thermal energy consumed by the heating system.
This makes the SensoStar U suitable for heating applications where accurate energy measurement is required for monitoring, billing, tenant metering or building energy management.

Long Battery Life
The SensoStar U is powered by an easily replaceable 3 V lithium battery. Battery capacity is designed for up to 20 years without a communication module, with battery life varying according to the communication technology and readout frequency selected.
Battery life may be reduced where frequent remote reading or higher-power communication modules are used.
