Sontex Superstatic 749 Heat Meter | UK Supplier

The Sontex Superstatic 749 is a compact static thermal energy meter designed for accurate and reliable energy measurement in residential and light commercial applications. Available in 1/2" and 3/4" sizes, with either M-Bus or pulse output, it provides a practical solution for both standalone and remotely read energy-metering installations.

Sontex Superstatic 749 Static Energy Meter

Compact static thermal energy metering with no moving parts in the flow sensor and a choice of M-Bus or pulse communication.

The Sontex Superstatic 749 is a compact thermal energy meter designed for residential, apartment and smaller commercial energy-metering applications where accurate measurement and dependable long-term operation are required.

Rather than using a conventional mechanical turbine or impeller, the Superstatic 749 uses Sontex's static fluid-oscillation measuring principle. With no moving mechanical measuring components within the flow sensor, the meter provides a robust alternative to conventional mechanical heat meters.

Available in 1/2" and 3/4" sizes, with either M-Bus or pulse output, the Superstatic 749 is particularly well suited to individual properties, apartments, communal heating systems and other compact thermal energy-metering applications.

Sontex Static Measurement Technology

The Superstatic 749 uses a different measuring principle from the ultrasonic and conventional mechanical meters commonly used for thermal energy measurement.

Sontex's fluid-oscillation technology uses the movement of the heat-transfer medium through the measuring chamber to generate an oscillating flow pattern from which the volume passing through the meter can be determined.

The measuring principle requires no conventional turbine or impeller, meaning there are no moving mechanical measuring parts within the flow sensor subject to normal mechanical wear.

Compact Residential & Commercial Metering

The compact Superstatic 749 is particularly suited to smaller heating and thermal energy-metering systems. Its 1/2" and 3/4" sizes make it a practical choice for apartments, individual properties, communal heating installations and smaller commercial circuits.

M-Bus or Pulse Output

The Superstatic 749 is available with a choice of M-Bus or pulse output, allowing the communication method to be selected according to the requirements of the installation.

  • M-Bus – suitable for connection to compatible wired automatic meter-reading and building-management systems
  • Pulse output – suitable for connection to compatible data loggers, monitoring equipment and external metering systems

MID Class 2 Energy Meter

The Superstatic 749 is available as a MID Class 2 thermal energy meter to EN 1434, providing an approved metering solution for applications requiring compliant thermal energy measurement.

Typical Applications

  • Residential heat metering
  • Apartment and flat energy sub-metering
  • Communal heating systems
  • Individual properties
  • Smaller commercial heating systems
  • Meter cupboards and compact installations
  • Wired M-Bus networks
  • Pulse-output metering systems
  • Automatic meter-reading applications

Why Choose the Sontex Superstatic 749?

The Superstatic 749 is a strong choice where a compact and straightforward static energy meter is required. Its fluid-oscillation measurement principle eliminates conventional moving measuring components, while the choice of M-Bus or pulse output makes it easy to specify for both standalone and remotely monitored installations.

Superstatic 749 or Superstatic 789?

The Sontex Superstatic 749 and Superstatic 789 are both compact static thermal energy meters using Sontex fluid-oscillation measurement technology. Both are available with a choice of M-Bus or pulse output, so the principal difference between the two ranges is the construction of the flow sensor body.

The Superstatic 749 uses a traditional brass flow sensor body, making it a suitable choice where a robust metallic meter body is preferred or required for the installation.

The Superstatic 789 uses a modern composite flow sensor body, providing a lightweight alternative while retaining Sontex's static measurement principle. If you are replacing an existing meter or are unsure which construction is most appropriate, Stockshed Metering can help you select the correct version.
