Kamstrup Multical 403 Meter

The Kamstrup MULTICAL 403 is a mid-range ultrasonic heat meter designed for residential, commercial and building-services applications. Available from DN15 through to DN50, it combines accurate thermal energy measurement with a single configurable communication interface and a compact, practical design.

The Kamstrup MULTICAL 403 sits in the middle of the Kamstrup heat-meter range and is designed for applications requiring more flexibility than a compact residential meter without the additional size range and communication capability of the larger MULTICAL 603 platform.

Available from DN15 through to DN50, the MULTICAL 403 is particularly well suited to individual heating circuits, apartment developments, communal heating systems, commercial buildings and medium-sized plant-room applications.

The MULTICAL 403 is supplied with a fixed 1.5m display cable between the flow sensor and calculator. The cable cannot be disconnected at either end, so the calculator mounting position and cable routing should be considered before installation.

A single communication-module position allows the meter to be configured with one communication protocol, including options such as M-Bus, Wireless M-Bus, Modbus RTU or BACnet.

DN15 to DN50 Meter Range

The MULTICAL 403 covers smaller and medium-sized thermal energy-metering applications, with meter sizes ranging from DN15 through to DN50.

This makes it a strong choice for individual apartments, communal heating systems, commercial properties and plant rooms where pipe sizes do not exceed DN50.

Meter selection should be based on the expected operating flow rate as well as the nominal pipe size. Stockshed Metering can assist with sizing where the system flow conditions are known.

Fixed 1.5m Display Cable

The MULTICAL 403 is supplied with a 1.5m fixed cable between the flow sensor and calculator. As the cable is not detachable at either end, the available mounting position and required cable route should be checked before installation.

Single Communication Interface

The MULTICAL 403 supports one communication protocol, allowing the meter to be configured for the communication system used on the installation.

Ultrasonic Measurement Technology

The MULTICAL 403 uses ultrasonic measurement technology rather than a conventional mechanical turbine or impeller. With no moving mechanical measuring components in the flow sensor, it provides a robust solution for accurate and dependable thermal energy measurement.

MULTICAL 403 or MULTICAL 603?

Choose the MULTICAL 403 where the required meter size is between DN15 and DN50, one communication protocol is sufficient and the standard 1.5m display cable suits the installation.

Choose the MULTICAL 603 where larger meter sizes are required, where the installation extends beyond DN50, where two communication protocols are needed or where the longer 2.5m calculator cable provides a better installation solution. The MULTICAL 603 range extends through to DN300.
